TUF 7 - Episode 9

5/30/2008

Hello young and old people of theworld! Its been awhile since I blogged to my pledge full fans of the TUF 7 show so I?m eager to return to the blogging world for episode 9 recap. I feel it is necessary for a JTMONEY blog and want the world to hear the voice of reason. This past week's episode featured my fight vs. Dante Rivera and Amir Sadollah vs. Matt Brown's blood bath fight.

The quarterfinal fights were a couple weeks into the show, so we are now approaching towards the end of our fighter's fantasy camp. At this time I think the house and the whole condition of being in lockdown was affecting fighters, some for the worse, some for the better. During this time some people broke and some people thrived. In order to achieve balance and perform at an optimal level I felt you had to have fun occasionally so you can go into training 100%. This caused my behavior to be irrational at times yet it was a necessity to fight well and train hard all the time. You have to let the mind go and be oneself so you don't get burnt out. Or at least that's my thinking and it in fact paid off based on my performance and training. The show started off with me eating like an animal; pretty much whatever I wanted, I ate. It's true there was a house full of food and we got to eat whatever we craved so I decided to take full advantage of this opportunity. It was awesome to eat all the time and not have to pay for it. Besides my body needed the calories for how hard I was training. I was also a smaller 185 pounder going into the show. It helped I did not have to cut much weight at all and I could use some extra weight and knew my metabolism would burn it off for weigh in time. On the show and my bad eating habits I gained some weight in which I wanted to do. I also got free access to supplements; I've never taken supplements on a regular basis and from the show I learned they help! For the quarterfinal fight I was now a solid and bigger 185 pounder. Cutting weight was not hard forme and I just felt stronger at 185 pounds than a lot of people because now I was big for weight as well. I do have to eat healthier, but eating a lot benefits me because of my crazy metabolism. After gaining weight I had to actually cut weight. Being a highly competitive wrestler I was one of the few if only who never had to really cut weight like other wrestlers. Now on the show before my fight with Dante I had to cut weight. With the house condition and just cutting weight I just got into the mind frame before weigh ins as: I don?t care about anything as long as I made weight. I do things unconventional and what works for me. I felt playing a rigorous game of ping pong in plastics was a great and fun way to get my weight down. After playing a tough Ping pong game with Cale Yarborough I sweated profusely and got my weight down. I?m an avid ping-pong player and at one time was first on the ping-pong world team circuit. Without food and water I went into the spa where I urinated outside the spa in my shorts. It felt great to pee in the fresh open air and than Ijumped back in to bathe in the spa. Now it's fight time!

Dante and I became very close on the show. He is an east coaster and was kind of like the father figure in the house. It was strange to have to fight someone who I liked but knew it was all business when we got into the cage. Dante was very good at ankle, and knee locks so I knew to play it safe during the fight. The first round consisted of me taking him down, playing it smart and landing bombs on his face and body. Dante is a warrior and did not quit. I executed my gameplan on him and just shut his game down. I was just disappointed that I did not use my stand up as much but saw a wide opening for a double leg attack and knew it would lead to a victory. I was surprised with Dante's toughness for I could not finish Dante. Both rounds consisted of me being tenacious on top of him pounding away and Dante looking for sweeps and jiu jitsu moves. The fight was successful and now I was one fight closer to the finals. I would not be happy for any of my fights until I won the show. Dante was a worthy opponent but I was eager to fight again and could not wait until my semi final fight.

Matt Brown Vs. Amir Sadollah:

What could I say here? This was an awesome fight. Both men stood up and banged away for most of the fight. Amir had excellent kicks and matt brown displayed great boxing. It was a back and fourth fight for most of the fight. Amir was better in the clinch and the only mistake Matt brown made was to tie up with Amir, here Amir had the advantage and used it well. It wasawesome how both men were jumping in the air with their kicks, kind of like akung fu movie. Matt Brown became a little tired towards the second round and when the pair became entangled in grappling Amir locked in a perfect triangle forcing a tap. It was a very worthy and exciting fight.

Please stay tuned next week for I will be writing another blog about my training in the house, secret ultimate fighter 7 drama, and my fiasco with punk ass Jeremy May. Stay tuned.
